Early Intervention Program

The Early Intervention Program is new to Calvary Schools of Holland this year.  This program was made possible by the grace of God in moving the hearts of three of our parents who have both the heart and the educational training to meet the remedial needs of elementary students who are significantly delayed in the areas of math and/or reading.  This team works closely with both the Academic Dean and our classroom teachers to successfully carry out this program.

The process of utilizing this program begins with a teacher referral.  An elementary teacher, with input from a student's parents and previous teachers, identifies a child who is significantly delayed in reading or mathematics.  The classroom teacher submits a completed referral form, including a parent interview portion, and attaches any standardized testing to the Intervention Team.

The Early Intervention Team seeks permission from the student's parents to test the student.  Once permission has been granted, the child is tested in the area of deficiency.

Test results are shared with both the teacher and parents.  A plan for remediation is devised.  The plan could include, but is not lmited to, remedial ideas/materials to support the student in the classroom and/or at home or a small group experience with a member of the Intervention Team.

A remedial plan is carried out and is reviewed on a quarterly or as-needed basis.  The classroom teacher or an Intervention Team member will contact the student's parents with any updates.

It is our goal to make every Calvary students' learning experience be both a positive and successful one.  We are excited to add the Early Intervention Program to our Elementary Program.
